Our Frosh-Soph Tennis Sailors debuted this season against San Clemente High School, a well-practiced and experienced team. We disembarked looking sharp in our new uniforms and ready for a fun Friday matchup. San Clemente did not disappoint. They were welcoming hosts and true competitors with excellent sportsmanship.

For more than half of our Sailors, this was their first tennis match. Our more experienced players partnered with the newer to support and guide their teammates. For the rest of the season, these squads will practice together but play matches separately. So this was a fun start to the season and a great chance to meet new players and connect on our team.

Lots of smiles, snacks, and quality time as our crew showed Sailor Pride and gave a great effort against a strong opponent. Tennis is fun! Tomorrow our blue squad will face Northwood away. Go Sailors!

It was a great start to what promises to be a great season. Both the varsity and junior varsity girls' tennis squads enjoyed comfortable WINds in their maiden voyage. Chloe Bennett returning as a Line 1 varsity starter, served up a storm that proved too powerful for both her opponents on this day. Sophie Harlan and Breckyn Burg, also returning singles players, finished stronger than they started, which is impressive since they started perfectly. Kendall Solomon and Riley Bogard bring dynamic energy and aggressive play to Line 1 doubles. They communicate well and know where they are headed. Carmela Ditteaux and Sova Shultz paired beautifully in line 2. Their complementing styles of play make for a competitive advantage when they find themselves in rough waters. Congratulations to Sova on her first varsity start and victory today! At line 3 doubles Haley Dodman and Baylee Budde powered and finessed their way through the lineup. These returning varsity seniors have contrasting styles that synergize seamlessly. Haley loves doubles but typically plays singles, while Baylee is a doubles specialist, but this peanut butter and jelly combination is so good, they should call it the Haley Baylee!

Renee Hays stepped into her first varsity role, subbing in for Line 1 singles, and earned a convincing victory for the team. Similarly, Paige Decinces and Lily Toohey subbed in Line 1 to earn their first varsity starts and wins. Way to go!

Thank you to Bolsa Grande for your gracious hospitality, sportsmanship, and earnest competition. We look forward to meeting again!

Congratulations and thank you to our Junior Varsity Girls, who also hosted Bolsa Grande at NHHS. Thursday, varsity will be at home against Esperanza while the JV will play away. Go Sailors!
